While doing a random Google image search, I happened to find an image of Slappy the robot. It's actually one of many robotic projects by students of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory (University of Florida).

Here are end of year project papers and photos. (From the looks of it, most of these projects are no more sophisticated than your average Lego Mindstorms creation.)
